Chiefs and people of Ajumako Entumbil in the Ajumako Enyan Essiam in the Central Region are living in fear as 21 people who have been contact-traced for having interaction with a COVID 19 patients are left to roam in the community.

According to the Tufuhen of the Ajumako Entumbil Nana Kwaw Fosu III, the first COVID-19 patient in the District is a native of Ajumako Entumbil.

He said after 21 contact tracing had been done, the District Chief Executive, Emmanuel Ransford Medal Nyarko told the suspected patients that due to the lack of Isolation Center in the District they should quarantine themselves in their home.

The DCE is said to have promised to provide them food and security to guide them but has failed to fulfill his promises leaving the suspected patients to roam about and interact with people.

“Some of the suspected patients are operating their stores, some go to the farm always, and what pains me the most is that they sell by the roadside which I suspect they have infected many peoples with the virus.” Nana Kwaw Fosu III said.

The Assembly Member of Ajumako Entumbil Hon. Nicholas Arthur also said the DCE and the Health Director of the Ajumako Enyan Essiam District have disappointed them.

“I was in my farm when I had a call from the DCE and I quickly rushed to home only for them to tell us in a meeting that we have recorded COVID 19 patient here but because we don’t have an Isolation Center in the District here we want them to isolate themselves in their own house by they will support them with the necessary materials in other for them to abide by it so we all agreed but almost a week now we have heard nothing from the DCE and the Health Directorate the DCE is not answering our calls anymore”

“This has pushed the 21 contact traced people to also come out from their homes and continue with their normal duties as they used to so this has really caused fear and panic to the entire Entumbil community.”

He added that all the government workers in the community have gone back to their hometowns for fear of contracting the virus.

Information gathered by Kasapa News Yaw Boagyan revealed that the Ajumako Enyan Essiam District lacks Isolation Center because people are resisting moves to have some Senior High Schools to be used as an Isolation center for fear that the disease might spread to the area.

Efforts to reach the DCE for comment have not been successful so far.
