Coronavirus has forced more top officials into isolation after Ghana’s health minister, who has had frequent contact with President Akufo-Addo, tested positive, according to multiple sources.

Kwaku Agyemang Manu (MP) had been receiving treatment at the University of Ghana Medical Center in Accra, and is said to be in “stable condition.”

The Dormaa Central MP was reportedly admitted on Tuesday, a few weeks after he was elected to serve on a 34-member of the Executive Board of the World Health Organization (WHO).

Dailymailgh.com has gathered that top officials at the Health Ministry and in government, have been asked to self-isolate with their samples taken for testing.

The legislator is contesting unopposed in the Dormaa Central Constituency ahead of the ruling New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary primaries slated for June 20.

This also comes amid calls from the Minority in Parliament to shut down the House.

Leadership in Parliament had expressed frustration and helpless after some MPs and staff who tested positive for the virus still frequent the House.

The Speaker, Prof Aaron Mike Oquaye had also directed another COVID-19 testing for the lawmakers in the coming days.
