Ferro Fabrick robbed of 39,000 dollars

Tema, Sept. 23, GNA - The Tema Regional Police Command has arrested five armed robbers who robbed the Ferro Fabrick Company Limited, manufacturers of iron rods of 39,000 dollars at Tema heavy industrial area.

Briefing newsmen at Tema on Tuesday, ACP Agnes Siaknartey, Tema Regional Police Commander, said on the night of February 16, 2003, Abednego Odunu Dodzi alias Lucky, trader in Tema and Shitu Numoh Teye Seidu, alias Red, a scrap dealer at Ashaiman went to the factory, locked up the security men at gunpoint, broke into the administrative block and stole the money.


She said the robbers bolted with their booty in the company's Nissan Urvan with registration number GT 8168 R that was parked at the premises and later abandoned it at Adjei Kojo, near Ashaiman. ACP Sikanartey said Dodzi, who was the brain behind the robbery, was arrested on July 22, 2003. He mentioned Shitu Numoh as an accomplice and both admitted sharing the stolen money.


While investigations were underway, Seidu Musah Atupaga, Musah Kodri and Moses Abass, alias Babylon, were arrested as accomplices who also benefited from the booty.

The ACP called on the public to volunteer information on criminals to the police, promising the security of their identity. In another development, on September 20 2003, a 15-year-old student, Eldred Addy-Young and one other, hired a taxi from Nkrumah Circle in Accra to Sakumono.


At the outskirts of Sakumono, one of them pulled a knife on the driver, made him to surrender all his money and mobile phone and bolted into a nearby bush.


The Police Commander said an alarm raised by the driver drew people to the scene and Addy-Young was apprehended but the other suspect managed to escape with the booty.
