Antwiagyeikrom (Ash), April 7, GNA- The Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) has released 50 million cedis for the construction of a three-classroom block, an office and store for the Antwiagyekrom primary school estimated at 120 million cedis.
Mr Kwasi Afriyie-Dante, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Atwima-Mponua, has also donated 20 million cedis as part of his share from the common fund in support of the project.
Mr Samuel Fofie, Assemblyman for Antwiagyekrom and Mr Kofi Iddrisu, unit committee chairman, told officers from the Atwima district education directorate when they inspected the project on Tuesday.
More than 60 million cedis have been spent on the project, and it would be completed by the end of April.
Mr Iddrisu said the residents are contributing 20,000 cedis a male and 10,000 cedis a female towards the project.
Mr Fofie said the next project is the construction of a permanent Junior Secondary School (JSS) block to replace the existing one, which is in a bad state.
Mr Baffour Asare-Bediako, an Assistant Director of Education, who led the team, condemned the attitude of some parents who neglected and refused to provide the basic needs of their children.
He attributed part of the increasing indiscipline and poor academic performance of some schools to some parents and guardians who failed to control and supervise their children at home.
