There is a long standing feud between the District Chief Executive (DCE) of Asante Akyem North in the Ashanti Region, Francis Oti Boateng and Police Commander in the area, ASP Samuel Azuga, the Regional Police Commander, COP Ken Yeboah has revealed.

According to him, his outfit has received several reports earlier indicating the duo are not on good talking terms hence, the recent attack on the District Police Commander by the DCE.

“What I can say is that for a while there has been misunderstanding between them and this could be the reason behind the recent incident”, the Ashanti Regional Police Commander spoke on Kumasi-based Abusua FM.

“However, REGSEC is taking steps to address the matter”, COP Ken Yeboah told sit-in- host of Abusua FM’s morning show hosted by Austin Woods Tuesday ruling out ASP Samuel Azuga is doing little to curb cattle menace in the Asante AKyem area and its environs.

The DCE Francis Oti Boateng reportedly stormed the official residence of District Police Commander, ASP Samuel Azugu’s residence, in the company of military men, threatening to manhandle him while his wife while his kids looked on.

This sparked some tensions between members of the community and Fulani herdsmen as over 50 cattle were shot by military officers deployed by the District

Earlier traditional authorities in the district gave herdsmen a seven-day ultimatum to leave the community or they would be forced to evacuate them following numerous complaints about their livestock destroying people’s farms.
