A suspended member of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe has charged President Akufo-Addo to fight rising scourge of schism in the country.
The scourge “is a bane to development and bodes no good for the general well-being and progress of the country,” the state-owned Daily Graphic quoted him as saying.
The former diplomat under the previous NPP government of John Agyekum Kufuor made this known while commenting on agitations against local government appointments in recent times.
“President Akufo-Addo can fight this canker and leave a strong legacy,” said Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe adding, “Since the birth of modern Ghana, political polarisation often coupled with ethnic polarisation has been a canker.”
According to him, the division being witnessed in the country recently is a spillover of the “antagonism the nation witnessed between the Nkrumaists and the Danquah-Busia-Domboists at the birth of its political system which has evolved into antagonisms within political parties.”
