President John Dramani Mahama has reiterated his government’s unwavering commitment to fighting corruption, emphasizing that it will not be business as usual, and appointees will be held accountable.

“We will stand in the fight against corruption relentlessly, knowing that it undermines the very fabric of our society,” he said on Sunday at the Christian National Thanksgiving Service in Accra.

“Persons who find themselves appointed to public office must be made aware that they will be held to the highest ethical and professional standards.”

The President cautioned all those sending their Curriculum Vitae (CVs) to him for appointments that it was not going to be an easy task or business as usual.

“We must come to the understanding that we are stewards of the resources and trust bestowed upon us by the sovereign people of Ghana,” President Mahama said.

Quoting from the Bible, he stated: “The Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.”

This verse, he said, serves as a reminder of their duty to be good stewards of the nation.

“We should take Ghana as the garden of Eden… God gave us the charge to work in our country and to take care of it,” he added.

The current administration, President Mahama said, would work diligently to restore Ghana’s economic fortunes, adding, “We will work diligently to promote sustainable energy and protect our environment.”

“We will ensure equitable distribution of resources so that all Ghanaians can benefit from the bountiful blessings that God has given us.”

President Mahama acknowledged the significant challenges facing Ghanaians but expressed confidence that with determination, innovation, and collective effort, they would overcome these challenges and build a Ghana that future generations would be proud of.

“As we embark on this journey, may I humbly ask for your continued prayers and partnership. Governing a nation is a responsibility that requires wisdom, strength, courage, and humility,” President Mahama stated.

“I will continuously seek the counsel of men and women of God, knowing that without Him, we are nothing.”

He quoted a Bible verse to emphasize his message: “If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves, and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sins and will heal their land.”

The President urged Ghanaians to remain humble, pray, and seek God’s guidance as they worked together to heal the nation.

“As we join hands in prayer for peace, unity, and prosperity for our beloved nation, may God guide us in every decision and strengthen us for the tasks ahead.”

The Thanksgiving Service was held to appreciate God for His blessings over Ghana and for a peaceful 2024 General Election.

Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, First Lady Lordina Mahama, and leading members of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), including National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia, General Secretary Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, and Members of Parliament from the party, were in attendance.

Also present were leading clergy from across the country, including the Reverend Dr. Stephen Wengam, General Superintendent of Assemblies of God; Rev. Sam Korankye Ankrah, Apostle General of Royalhouse Chapel; Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams, Founder and Overseer of Christian Action Faith Ministries Worldwide; and Archbishop Charles Agyinasare, Founder and Archbishop of Perez Chapel International.

Others included Apostle Dr. Isaac Owusu-Bempah of Glorious Word Power Ministries International, Dr. Lawrence Tetteh, Founder and President of Worldwide Miracle Outreach, Bishop Salifu Amoako, Founder and General Overseer of Alive Chapel International; Bishop Gideon Titi-Ofei, Presiding Bishop of Pleasant Place Church; and Prophet Akwasi Agyemang Prempeh, General Overseer of Springs of Joy Ministries International.
