Dr Omane Boamah was killed together with 7 others in a chopper crash on August 6
The final funeral rites of the late Minister of Defence, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, is scheduled to take place on Saturday, December 13, 2025.
According to a notice from the Presidency, "The ceremony will begin at 12 noon at the Jackson's Park in Koforidua."

Dr Omane Boamah, the former Director of Elections and IT for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), tragically lost his life in August 2024 in a tragic military helicopter crash at Sikaman near Adansi Akrofuom in the Ashanti Region.
He was among the eight people who died on board a Harbin Z-9EH military helicopter (tail number GHF 631), operated by the Ghana Air Force, after it went down while en route from Accra to Obuasi.

The victims included Dr Omane Boamah, former defence minister; Dr Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, who served as Minister of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation; Muniru Mohammed Limuna, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator; Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman, National Democratic Congress; Samuel Aboagye, former parliamentary candidate; and three Ghana Air Force crew members.
