Communications Director of the Eastern regional branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), David Prah, has challenged the General Secretary of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia aka Mosquito, to arrest President John Mahama for, in his view, allowing two ex-detainees of Guantanamo Bay to be transferred into Ghana.

Mr Prah says until Mr Asiedu Nketia causes the arrest of Mr Mahama, he cannot have the moral right to call for the arrest of the opposition New Patriotic Party’s running mate Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

Mr Prah holds the view that if Mr Nketia can call for the arrest of Dr Bawumia for alleged dishonesty, he should be able to do same with regards to Mr Mahama for deceit over the resettlement of Bin Atef and Al-Dhuby in Ghana for two years.

“The president himself is aware that he is not telling Ghanaians the truth. Asiedu Nketia called for the arrest of Dr Bawumia, who said the truth about the bloated voters' register, so, why not the President, who on countless occasions has peddled untruth?

“I am calling on Asiedu Nketia to organise a press conference and also lead the arrest of the president for deceiving Ghanaians," he noted in a statement released on Wednesday January 26.

He indicated that President Mahama erred by not having extensive consultations with legislators before accepting the two ex-detainees. He also held a strong view that the two Yemeni men had terrorist links per the information available to the NPP.

Mr Prah further condemned the president and the First Lady for denying any knowledge about DKM Microfinance, which has been in the news recently for defrauding over 1,000 customers.

"It was surprising the President said he was hearing of the DKM the very day of his media encounter. The president over and over lied to Ghanaians about the end of ‘dumsor’, so, it is not surprising to hear him say it is the first time he was hearing of DKM operations," Mr Prah stated.
