Bibiani, (W/R), June 16, GNA- One of the modern structures serving as Boys' Hostel for the Bibiani Senior High School (SHS), in the Western Region was burnt to ashes when it caught fire at the weekend. There were no casualties but the 21 students occupying the hostel have been displaced whilst their personal effects, stationery and foam mattresses have all been lost to the fire. Mr. Henry Afful, Headmaster of the school who was out of town at the time of the incident, told the Ghana News Agency that, the blaze, the cause of which was not immediately known started around midday and lasted for five hours. However, all efforts, by students and staff to put out the fire proved futile until the rescue team of the Central African Gold (CAG), intervened to battle the fire for over four hours. Meanwhile, affected students are putting up with colleagues in the already over-crowded dormitories which lacked adequate beds. The Headmaster has therefore appealed to the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), civil societies and philanthropists to come to the aid of the school.
