Fire burns three children to death

Apam, June 29, GNA- Three children Akua Agyeiwah 7, Kojo Adda 3 and Afua Eduah 2, were on Wednesday night burnt to death at Gomoa Kyiren near Apam, when their mother Akua Krampah locked them in a room with candlelight.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Mr Kwesi Asare Boafo, Apam District Commander briefing the GNA at Apam said the mother locked the children in a room with candlelight and went out. DSP Asare Boafo said between 2230 hours and 2300 hours, residents of a nearby house saw that a thick smoke had engulfed Akua Krampah's house. The residents went to the scene but before they could force the door open the entire room was in flames.

Mr. Asare Boafo said before the fire could be controlled the children had been burnt to death.

He said when their mother returned to the scene and saw the charred bodies of her children, she collapsed. DSP Asare Boafo said Akua Krampah was rushed to the Apam Catholic Hospital together with charred bodies of her children. The District Commander said the Police was investigating the matter.
