Firefighters from the Bekwai Fire Station have contained a fire that destroyed four rooms at a police quarter (House No. AV-0017-3613) at Jacobu in the Ashanti Region, near St Peter’s Preparatory School.
The blaze reportedly broke out on November 13, 2025, prompting a distress call to the fire station at 11:56 a.m.
The timely alert enabled the firefighting team to mobilise immediately despite the challenging terrain.

In a press release dated November 13, 2025, the fire service noted that the crew, led by STNO II Agyemang Duah, arrived at the scene at 12:25 p.m. and quickly assessed the situation before beginning firefighting operations.
“Despite the long distance covered and difficult road conditions, the crew led by STNO II Agyemang Duah arrived at 1225 hours, brought the fire rampaging fire under control at 1234 hours, and fully extinguished it at 1328 hours”, the statement said.
Firefighters brought the raging fire under control at 12:34 p.m, and full extinguishment was achieved at 1:28 p.m. The rapid response and coordinated efforts helped prevent further destruction.
Through tactical firefighting strategies, six out of the ten rooms in the building were successfully salvaged along with their contents. This minimised property loss and prevented the total devastation of the police quarters.
Authorities confirmed that there were no injuries or fatalities as a result of the fire. Residents and occupants of the affected area have since been advised to exercise caution while the cause of the blaze is being investigated.

The Fire Service has launched an inquiry to determine the origin of the fire, and further updates are expected once the investigation is completed.
Officials continue to urge the public to prioritise fire safety and ensure emergency numbers are readily available.
