Fire displaces 40 farmers and families

Kubakope, May 26, GNA - About 40 people were displaced when fire razed down 16 thatched houses at Kubakope village near Denu on Friday. Personal effects, food items and cash were destroyed in the fire the cause of which is being investigated by the Ghana National Fire Service. The displaced persons are currently putting up with friends and relatives.

Kubakope, May 26, GNA - About 40 people were displaced when fire razed down 16 thatched houses at Kubakope village near Denu on Friday. Personal effects, food items and cash were destroyed in the fire the cause of which is being investigated by the Ghana National Fire Service. The displaced persons are currently putting up with friends and relatives. Mr Frank Bernard Amable, Ketu South District Chief Executive, told the Ghana News Agency that at about 1400 hours on Friday while many of the residents of the village were away on their farms, fire was detected in one of the thatched houses by some children who raised the alarm. He said before support could be mobilized, the fire had spread until the Fire Service arrived to put it off. Mr Amable and Mr Albert Zigah, Member of Parliament (MP) for Ketu-South donated items, including bags of rice, mattresses, plastic bowls worth 4,050 Ghana cedis to the victims at the weekend. Mr Zigah assured them that he would collaborate with the district assembly to support them.
