Fire guts house at Fante New Town in Kumasi

Kumasi, Jan. 11, GNA- Properties worth several millions of cedis were destroyed when fire gutted a house at Fante New Town in Kumasi on Wednesday. The cause of the fire is not yet known. Information pieced together by the Ghana News Agency, (GNA) indicated that at about 2000 hours that day, some witnesses saw thick smoke billowing from one of the ceilings of the rooms in the house.

Kumasi, Jan. 11, GNA- Properties worth several millions of cedis were destroyed when fire gutted a house at Fante New Town in Kumasi on Wednesday. The cause of the fire is not yet known. Information pieced together by the Ghana News Agency, (GNA) indicated that at about 2000 hours that day, some witnesses saw thick smoke billowing from one of the ceilings of the rooms in the house. According to the Police no sooner had the smoke started engulfing the house than the flames broke out sweeping through about seven rooms in the house. Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Gabriel Magamsi, in-charge of the Zongo District Police Station, said it took personnel of the Fire Service about one hour before they could bring the fire under control. He said even though there were no casualties, the Police, in collaboration with the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) had opened an investigation into the incident.
