A picture of shops engulfed in flames at the Kumasi Central Market
Parts of the Kumasi Central Market in the Ashanti Region have caught fire.
According to reports gathered by GhanaWeb and videos circulating online, the fire occurred on October 9, 2026.
In the videos circulating online, the fire has destroyed several shops near Aboabo Station.
The cause of the fire remains unclear. However, reports indicate that personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service are currently at the scene, working to bring the blaze under control.
Reports also indicate that fire tenders arrived at the scene after residents attempted to bring the blaze under control.
The blaze has consumed a large portion of the shops, as some traders race to save their property.
