Fire razes five-roomed house at Nkoranza

Nkoranza (B/A), Dec. 27, GNA - Fire has razed a five-bedroom house at Nkoranza in Brong Ahafo, destroying property worth several millions of cedis and displacing 10 persons. The cause of the fire is yet to be identified. Nana Awah Sasraku 1, Chief of Nyinammiensa Ase, near Akuma in the Nkoranza District and owner of the house told the Ghana News Agency that the incident occurred when all the residents were away. Mr Alfred Attah-Yeboah, Nkoranza Zonal Coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) and staff and Mr Peter Osei, District Fire Officer, have visited the scene and expressed their sympathies to the victims.

They cautioned children against using matches as crackers and called on parents not to expose matches to their children. The two officials also advised the people to be careful about the use of heaters, pressing iron, gas cookers and other electrical appliances. Mr Attah-Yeboah called on the Brong-Ahafo Regional Office of NADMO to consider the plight of Nana Sasraku and his family and arrange for some relief items for their immediate rehabilitation.
