Personal belongings worth thousands of Ghana cedis were destroyed on Sunday when fire swept through a five- bedroom house at Abesim Dominase in the Sunyani Municipality.

The cause of the fire, which according to onlookers, started around 01130 hours is yet to be known but residents in the area suspected intermittent power outage might have caused it. Apostle Collins Tettey of the Living Grace International Church in Sunyani, the landlord, and his family of four had left for church before the incident happened

Some residents told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that when personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) got to the scene it took them some time to control the fire.

Mrs Patience Tettey, wife of Apostle Tettey, said the family was putting up with Bishop Owusu Achiaw, Overseer of the Living Grace International Church.

She said “my husband received the information, when he was still on the pulpit preaching. I could see from his face that he was uneasy but that did not affect his preaching anyway”.

According to Mrs Tettey items destroyed by the fire included television sets, refrigerators, home theatres, cassette and DVD players, sums of money, mattresses, cooking utensils clothing, lap and table top computers, Christian literatures, and other appliances and belongings.
