Accra, Sept. 05, GNA - This year's First Day at School programme, which has been designed to soften the impact of the first day at school for children, would be on Tuesday, September 11.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mrs Oboshie Sai Cofie, said on Wednesday that the programme being organized by the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports and the Ghana Education Service at the beginning of every academic year was also to sensitise the public on the need to send all children of school-going age to school.
A statement signed by the Minister said the programme was to make the first day at school more enjoyable for children and serve as attraction for children of school-going age to enrol.
She noted that a special function of the programme was the launch of the 2007 Education Reform Programme, which started with the extension of the kindergarten to start at age four instead of six. Mrs Sai Cofie urged stakeholders in education to join and celebrate with the new entrants.
