The First Lady, Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo, has commissioned a new primary school building for residents of Wiaboman in the Weija Gbawe constituency.

Inaugurating the ultra-modern facility, which brought together traditional rulers, educationists, and scores of party faithful, the First Lady said the idea for this project came in 2020 when she visited Wiaboman.

She also disclosed that education is a top priority of President Akufo-Addo's government and that the NPP government is committed to ensuring that each Ghanaian child gets access to quality education.

"So today, as we commission this school block, I encourage all of you to send your children to school and work with the educators to provide a great future for the children of Wiaboman," she stated.

The parliamentary candidate for the Weija Gbawe constituency, lawyer Jerry Ahmed Shaibu, thanked the First Lady for the project, which he believes is a fulfilment of the wishes and prayers of the chiefs of the area.

According to the NPP parliamentary candidate, education is the key, and he is now soliciting their mandate to do the best for them.

"I intend to build a school in the new Weija areas that don't have a community or a public school. And so, by God's grace, that is my prayer that we are able to secure a parcel of land so that I can build from a kindergarten to a junior high school," he said.

Also in attendance were the Municipal Chief Executive for Weija Gbawe, Michael Dankwa; Shirley Ayorkor Botchway, the Foreign Affairs Minister/Commonwealth General Secretary; and Ghana's Ambassador to South Africa, H.E. Francisca Ashietey Oduntun.
