Gomoa Nyayano (C/R), July 26, GNA - Mother and Child Care Development Foundation, a non-governmental organisation (NGO), on Tuesday donated 500 bags of cement worth 30 million cedis it received from Ghacem for the construction of a school at Gomoa Nyayano in the Central Region.

The Foundation is to build a block of six classrooms with a dinning hall, an administration block, a cr=E8che and a block of three classrooms to serve as a vocational training centre for young mothers and children.

Mr Ralf Slomski, Acting Managing Director of Ghacem, said the donation was part of the Company's contribution towards national development since: "We are not just interested in making money but we are also aware of our social responsibility to help develop communities."

Madam Theresa Kufour, First Lady, who is also the Nkoswohema of the area with the title Nana Aba Esun II, in receiving the donation on behalf of the people, said the chief of Nyayano donated 10 plots of land to the Foundation about 18 months ago for the project. Madam Kufuor, who is also the founder of the Foundation, said the Foundation had received funds from the Japanese Embassy and called on other organisations to support the project.

She appealed to the youth and people of Gomoa Nyayano to support the project.

Nana Obeng Wiabo V, Chief of Gomoa Nyayano, commended the Foundation and Ghacem for the gesture. He noted that through the efforts of Nana Aba Esun II, other development projects apart from the school were going in the area including the construction of roads and the supply of potable water.
