First Vice-Chancellor Of UCC Passes Away

Accra (GAR), July 15, The death was today announced in Accra of Professor E. A. Boateng, first Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast. He was 76. A family spokesman told the GNA today that funeral arrangements will be announced later. Prof. Boateng, who was one time chairman of the former Environmental Protection Council (EPC), also served as chairman of the West Africa Examinations Council (WAEC) from 1973 to 1981. Until recently, he served as the Vice Chairman of the National Development Planning Commission. Among his numerous publications is ''Government and the People - Outlook for Democracy in Ghana'' which was launched last year. Prof. Boateng is survived by a wife and four children.
