In furtherance of actualizing the vision and mission of the President Mahama led administration, some ministers of state have stated their commitment in pushing for policies and programs which will improve the lives of the people and guarantee a robust economy whiles maintaining national cohesion.
Speaking to gold news after they were sworn in by president Mahama at the Castle in Osu, some of the ministers expressed their desire to discharge their duties to meet the expectation of the Ghanaian people. According to the minister for Foreign affairs and regional integration Madam Hannah Serwah Tetteh she will do things differently, efficiently and effectively to raise high the flag of Ghana.
The former minister for trade and industry said her immediate priority was to go and assess the readiness of the ministry, acclimatize with the effectiveness of staff and departments in relation to their performance their functions.
The foreign affairs minister said ‘’I will work to promote well being and the prosperity of Ghana and its citizens.’’
She emphasized the need to deepen regional integration thus shall work closely to the regional and multinational organizations such as the African Union (AU), the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and the commonwealth to achieve the desired results.
‘’no business as usual, will do things differently, effectively, and efficiently and timely in promoting Ghana’s interest,’’ Hannah Tetteh said.
The Minister for Agriculture Hon. Clement Kofi Humado said he is committed to helping the private sector play key role in the economy. He insisted of linking the private sector to the public sector.
Mr. Humado stressed he was going to work to ensure the realization of the promises his party made in the run up to the 2012 elections.
The minister for lands and natural resources, Alhaji Inusah Fuseini indicated that he will work to bring to an end land disputes as well as addressing the confusing surrounding the abuse of state lands.
He intimated that government will have a best eye view on lands that were either acquired, occupied or vested before taken a decision on returning lands on which compensation was not paid and ensure proper documentation of lands.
On the issue of the numerous land disputes and cases in courts, Mr. Inusah Fuseini said ‘’I will impress on the judiciary to expedite application of land disputes before the courts.’’
The rest of the ministers who were sworn in are; Mr. Seth Terkper minister of finance, Minister for water resources works and housing Alhaji Collins Dauda, Roads minister Alhaji Suleyman Amin, and the information and media affairs minister Mahama Ayariga.
