Kofi Bassah, a 30-year old fisherman who lives at Anomabo in the Central Region, was on Monday sentenced to a fine of GH?600.00 by a magistrate’s court in Cape Coast for stealing six half pieces and one full piece of cloths.

He pleaded guilty and would serve six months imprisonment in default.

Inspector Daniel Baidoo told the court presided over by Ms. Mercy Adei Kotei that, on Friday Jan 4th, at about 1400 hours Bassah went to spend the night at his friend, Mr. Kwame Anyifah’s house at Anomabo.

He said, the accused stole the cloths valued at GH?285.00 from the house and was on his way to Mankessim to sell them the following morning.

He said the driver of a passenger vehicle Bassah boarded at Abandze suspected him and handed him over to the Police.

Inspector Baidoo told the court that Bassah admitted the offence in his caution statement and was arraigned before court.
