Five criminals arrested in a Police sweep at Kasoa

Kasoa (C/R) July 20 GNA - The Kasoa Police in a joint operation with personnel from the Winneba Police Training College have arrested five people including a 19-year old woman and seized a large quantity of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp and a trousers of a Police uniform from them.

They were Amos Innusa, 29, Driver; Emmanuel Norgbe,32 and Victor Korrom 23, both Traders; Kwabla Agbasah, 20 year-old Truck-Pusher and a 19-year-old Seamstress, Asana Muro.

Briefing the GNA at Kasoa on Monday, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Charles Adalong said upon reports that some hardened criminals and drug addicts from Accra and other big towns in the country had moved to Kasoa, the Police mounted the operation and the five were arrested.

ASP Adalong, who is also the District Police Commander, said during the operation the trousers of Police uniform was found at the residence of Norgbe and Agbasah but they denied ownership.

He said the leaves would be sent to the Police forensic laboratory for test while the suspects currently on provisional charges of possessing narcotic drugs and Police accoutrement would also be put before a Circuit Court on July 21.

Meanwhile the Police have impounded an Alfa Romeo taxicab with registration number GW 2174 Q that was found abandoned at Akule Junction, a suburb of Kasoa, which had been parked at the area for over month.

The Kasoa District Police Commander said the address on the taxi was not decipherable and so they were making enquires from the Driver and Vehicle and Licensing Authority (DVLA) to trace the owner.
