Five organizations donate towards Farmers' Day

Accra, Nov. 2, GNA - Five organizations on Thursday donated items and cash towards this year's Farmers' Day to be held at Nkawie in the Ashanti Region on December 1.

The organizations, include Fan Milk Ghana Limited, which donated a cheque for 20 million cedis in addition to Tampico products worth two million cedis, Agro Processing Limited, a farmers' organization which presented a cheque for 50 million cedis and Melcom Ghana Limited which gave five scales each worth 1.5 million cedis.

Nodeco Limited gave rice farming equipment including, rice millers, slasher, a tool for winning rice and water pumps worth 32 million cedis while Accra Brewery Limited gave 50 cartons of assorted drinks. Mr Clement Eledi, Deputy Minister of Food and Agriculture in-charge of Crops, thanked the donors and said farmers played an important role in the economy, hence the donation towards the Day was worthy. He assured donors that items and monies received would be used for the benefit of farmers.
