Five persons remanded in custody for murder

Nkawie (Ash), Aug 2, GNA- A 45-year-old farmer, his wife and son and two other persons, were on Friday remanded in prison custody by the Nkawie District court for causing the murder of one Mumuni Mamprusi. They are Kwaku Fordjour, the farmer, Afua Kyerewa, 48, the wife and Kwaku Kumah, 24, the son, Adamu Kusasi, 45, and Ibrahim Abugiri, 27, both tenants of Fordjour, will re-appear on August 15. Their pleas were not taken.

Police Inspector G.K. Letsah, told the court that on July 26, the deceased who stayed at Pakyi near Nyinahin in the Atwima District, visited his girl friend, Adwoa Darkowaa at Mantukwa cottage at about 8.30 pm to spend the night with her.


The prosecution said Kumah had threatened to kill Mumuni for flirting with Darkowaa, who Kumah claimed was his sister.

The prosecution said Kumah shot Mumuni to death and with the help of his father, mother, Abugiri and Kusasi, they carried the corpse from the cottage and deposited it at a nearby cocoa farm.


He said following a tip-off, the body was discovered and the matter was reported to the police.
