Residents of the Torompan Electoral Area in the Wassa Amanfi West Municipality of the Western Region have vowed not to allow any politician campaign in their enclave if their roads are not fixed this year.

The community, which is predominantly by farmers, say they have not been treated fairly by politicians who always come to deceive them during campaign seasons but fail to fulfil their promises to them.

The poor nature of the roads the residents said makes it difficult for them to transport their harvested crops to markets to sell.

In an interview with Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm, the Assembly member for the area, Abdulai Salifu Amadiba, who spoke on behalf of the farmers of the area opined that most of Ghana’s cocoa is produced from his area but their roads are very difficult to plough during the raining season.

He also lamented pregnant women die during labour due to the bad nature of their roads and a lot of their farm produce get rotten in their farms.

To this end, the residents have vowed to resist and would mount barriers on Samraboi – Mununi – Nope through AyensuKrom, Mmofra Mfa Adwen, Torompan* and other area’s during the campaign season prior to 2020 elections to prevent politicians from campaigning there.

The Assembly member added that the Member of Parliament (MP) for Wassa Amenfi West Eric Afful released some amount to do some patching on the roads but his efforts yielded no results.

Meanwhile, the Municipal Assembly has disclosed a contract has been awarded for the tarring of various roads in the area but the residents insist that has been the same old story they have told several times.
