Former President John Dramani Mahama has pledged to support any candidate that wins the flag bearer contest of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
“We have begun our journey back to the Flagstaff House, and on my part, I can confidently promise you that I shall continue to provide the needed support and encouragement to the party on that journey and it would not matter who the flag bearer of our party is,” Mr Mahama said in an address to delegates of the NDC on Saturday, 17 November 2018, at the Accra Trade Fair Centre.
Mr Mahama will be competing against a raft of aspirants including former mayor of Kumasi, Kojo Bonsu; former Minister of Trade and Industries, Ekow Spio-Garbrah; former Greater Accra Regional Minister, Prof Joshua Alabi; former CEO of the National Health Insurance Authority, Sylvester Mensah; former Central Regional Minister, Kweku Ricketts-Hagan; former aide to Mr Rawlings, Goosie Tanoh; Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin; legal practitioner Elikplim Agbemava; businessman Nurudeen Iddrisu and Handyman Stephen Atubiga.
The party will elect a flag bearer in December.
