The Wildlife Division of the Forestry Commission (FC) on Tuesday marked this year’s World Earth Day with the planting of over 800 tree seedlings in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis.

The Western Regional Manager of Wildlife Division of the Forestry Commission, Mr. Moses Kofi Sam told the GNA in an interview in Sekondi that the Day also formed part of activities marking World Forestry Day, which falls on March 21, every year.

The Theme for the celebration was: “Forests: Our hope, our future”.

He said humanity had not been good managers of the environment and this had resulted in environmental degradation.

Mr. Sam advised Ghanaians to be conscious about the environment and refrain from practices that negatively affect the environment.

Some of the activities lined up for the celebration include float, excursion to Ankasa forest reserve, public talks and a durbar to climax the occasion.**
