Apam, Jan. 12, GNA - A former District Chief Executive for Gomoa, Mr Kow Anyanful has been inaugurated as the second lay chairman of the Winneba Diocese of the Methodist church.

Mr Anyanful succeeded Mr Kweku Acquaah, whose tenure expired last October.

The Winneba Diocese was created in 2000 when the Methodist Church adopted Episcopal system of administration. A lay chairman in the Church is the head of lay members and coordinates activities of the societies in the Diocese, ranking second in command to the Bishop.

Rt. Rev. Kow Bosomafi Egyi, the Administrative Bishop and Rt. Rev Jeremiah Morrison, Bishop of the diocese, jointly performed the inauguration.

Rt. Rev. Egyir exhorted lay members to support the Church's evangelisation drive.

Rt. Rev Morrison urged the new lay chairman to bring his expertise and eight years' experience in administration as a former DCE in shaping activities of the Church.

He commended people of Apam for their support for the Church, which he said, had culminated in the production of two past presidents of the church, as well as the establishment of three branches of the Church in the suburbs.

In a sermon, Mr Anyanful advised Christians to be worthy ambassadors of Christ and urged them to be each other's keepers and not destroyers.

About 12 ministers from the Diocese attended the inaugural ceremony.
