Former GJA President Edward Ameyibor dead

News reaching MyNewsGh.com indicate that a former President of the Ghana Journalist Association (GJA, Mr. Edward Ameyibor is dead.

Sources reveal that he died on Monday May 13, 2019 in Accra after battling a short illness.

The veteran journalist, worked with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) and was the General Manager of the Tamale-based Diamond Fm, the first private radio station in the Northern Region.

He is credited for nurturing several young talents in the inky fraternity and also served as General Secretary of the National Pensioners Association (NPA).

Tributes have been pouring in from journalists he mentored and persons who worked under him in various establishments throughout the country.

“A mighty tree has fallen. The media fraternity has lost a gem. The GNA has lost its own. The pensioners Association has lost. Mr Edward Ameyibor was a rare personality who had the interest of mentoring the young ones. As Shakespeare put it, “When beggars die, there are no comets seen; the heavens themselves blaze forth the death of princes”, Rest well my mentor".

"I will never forget what you told me when I joined the GNA in 2001, “Make friends with the top as a journalist to get news but not to make money..” May the Almighty rest you well until we meet again”
