A Former Inspector General of Police (IGP), C. K. Dewornu, has admitted to corruption within the service.
“The Police Service, a human institution, where a lot of people belong to, a few ones may go off the track who misconduct themselves much to the discomfiture of the rest,” he stated.
But he commended efforts put in by authorities to clamp down on the corrupt officials.
“When you talk about corruption, you are talking about a situation which is affecting the whole country.”
IGP Dewornu (rtd) was speaking to TV3’s Peter Quao Adattor on the sidelines of a dinner held to mark the 25th anniversary of the Police Ladies’ Association (POLAS).
He commended officers for doing very well “especially in the area of proactive policing”.
“The general public always wants result-oriented policing and we are doing just that,” he stated.
