Mr. Elvis Kusi, whose tenure as Director of Finance at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in the Ashanti Region ended on June 30, 2024, has filed a second lawsuit against the hospital’s management to prevent the advertisement of his former position.

Mr. Kusi’s last appointment letter, issued in 2020 for a four-year term, expired on June 30, 2024. Despite the clear end date in his appointment letter, Mr. Kusi is reported to be occupying his office without any reappointment process or official letter.

On June 29, 2024, just one day before his term expired, Mr. Kusi is said to have filed a writ at the High Court arguing that his initial appointment letter from May 6, 2010, still validates his position as Director of Finance.

He is seeking a declaration that his 2010 appointment has not been “terminated, revoked, nor is he due for retirement.”

Mr. Kusi was first appointed as Director of Finance in 2010. He was reappointed for another four-year term in 2016, ending on June 30, 2020.

Following the expiration of his term in 2020, the hospital board advertised the position according to standard procedures. However, Mr. Kusi obtained a court injunction to stop the advertisement, interviews, and appointment process.

The board reached a settlement that allowed him to secure another four-year term, ending on June 30, 2024.

Despite his term ending, Mr. Kusi is said to be in office and continues to sign documents as the Director of Finance. He has asked a High Court to stop the hospital’s board from starting a fresh appointment process, including application, assessment, and interview.
