The former Member of Parliament for the Mpohor constituency, Anthony Evans Amoah, has reportedly died after battling a short illness.

According to reports from onuaonline.com, the former lawmaker and Western Regional Minister passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2024.

Evans Amoah was elected as the MP on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party, winning a majority of the votes in both the 2004 and 2008 general elections.

He secured an impressive 19,635 votes out of 40,736 total valid votes cast, representing 48.2% of the total votes.

As a member of the New Patriotic Party, Amoah served as the Western Regional Minister under President John Kufuor’s administration until 2008.

During his tenure, he oversaw major projects, including the completion of the Essipong Sports Stadium Complex, a 20,000-capacity stadium built for the African Cup of Nations in 2008.
