The Forum for Public Sector Registered Pension Schemes in Ho, on Tuesday, cautioned managements of Public Sector Institutions in the Volta Region against intimidating striking public sector workers.
“We will not take it kindly with any head of institution that tries to intimidate any Public Sector worker in this nationwide strike.”
This was contained in a seven-point resolution issued at the end of an emergency meeting.
The forum, therefore, called on all public sector workers in the region to get actively involved in the strike action “without fear of intimidation, because it is their constitutional right.”
The Forum, comprising a number of Public Sector Unions, has been on a nationwide indefinite strike, demanding that government transfers monies accrued from their contributions under the tier two pension, into registered public sector pension schemes.
It demanded that government allowed the Second Tier Pension Scheme to become “fully operational in accordance with the Pensions Act 2008 (Act 766).”
The Forum also called on government “to declare the amount of money that has accrued so far, and the interest thereon, since the inception of the Scheme in January 2010.”
