Found a drug that is helping tumors

An Orlando couple is part of the audience for “Oprah’s Ultimate Favorite Things,” airing today and Monday.

Dr. James Turkson, and his wife, Jennifer Turkson, soak up Lady O’s affection for heroes in the studio audience.

Turkson’s wife nominated him as a hero. Dr. Turkson grew up very poor in Ghana, moved to America and became determined to find a cure for cancer. He is a professor at the University of Central Florida, where he has found a drug that is helping tumors stop growing, according to the Winfrey show.

“The Oprah Winfrey Show” airs at 4 p.m. weekdays on WFTV-Ch. 9.
