Four Persons Remanded For Murder

Lawra (Upper West), 17 Oct., Four persons who allegedly murdered two people and removed their hearts, livers, intestines and private parts have been remanded in prison custody at Lawra. The accused are Yofaa Kpeme, a 22 year-old farmer, Fuseni Sissala alias Kamba Boduong, a 45 year-old trader, Imam Haruna Abudulai, a 68 year-old Mallam and his assistant Issah Musah 77. They were arraigned before the Lawra community tribunal but their pleas were not taken and will reappear in court on November five. Narrating the case for the prosecution to the court, presided over by Mr. Peter Galyuoni, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Mr. Samuel Wodah said the first accused, Kpeme allegedly picked a quarrel with his elder brother Bayuo Kamba, one of the deceased on October eight on his arrival from Kumasi. He said the next day when the deceased was working on his farm with his son Baksipal Bayuo, Kpeme appeared on the farm with a club, killed the deceased and took away his heart, liver, intestines and his penis. DSP Wodah said the deceased's son ran home and informed relatives. On their arrival, they decided to look for the accused but they discovered another corpse with the same mutilations like those of Bayuo. He said the second corpse was identified as Mr. Baluo Patou Bessama, a 58 year-old Burkinabe. DSP Wodah said Kpeme who was later caught riding his deceased brother's bicycle named Fuseini Sissala as his accomplice and Haruna Abudulai and Issah Musah as the Mallams who fortified them spiritually before undertaking the murder. Meanwhile the bodies of the deceased have been released to the families for burial pending further investigations.
