Tema, Sept. 07, GNA - Four persons were on Tuesday remanded by the Tema Circuit Court 91A' when they appeared before it on four counts of robbery,conspiracy to commit crime, dishonesty receiving and abetment of crime to wit.
They pleaded not guilty to all the four counts and they will re-appear on September 12.
The accused persons are Masawudu Mohammed, 23, articulated driver, Ibrahim Kasim, 28, farmer, Fatao Abubakari, 30, farmer and Daniel Agbemador, 58,security man at Amajaro Cocoa Shed at the Tema Port.
Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Stanley Dzakpasu, told the court that on August 29,
Daniel Tenkorang, Abudulai Mohammed and Peter Nyarko, all security guards of the Cocoa Marketing Company in Tema, were on duty when the accused persons and 15 others now at large,stormed the warehouse on board an articulated truck driven by Masawudu Mohammed.
The accused persons, armed with offensive weapons, attacked the complainants, tied their hands and legs and brutalized them.
Chief Inspector Dzakpasu said they loaded 490 bags of dried cocoa beans worth GH¢98,000 belonging to the CMC and bolted away.
The court was told that the cocoa beans were to be delivered to Mumuni and Kwesi, now at large, at the Amajaro Cocoa Shed where Daniel Agbamador the security man on duty was to open the gate to the premises. C hief Inspector Dzakpasu told the court that as pre-arranged,Agbamador admitted the vehicle into the yard and the cocoa beans were off-loaded in his presence. Police moved to the scene and arrested the accused persons but Mumuni and Kwesi escaped.
