Four persons die on the spot in car crash on Adenta - Frafraha road

Four persons died on the spot when a tipper truck with registration No.GR 9042-Z collided with a Hyundai mini-bus with registration No.GR 2866-11 between Adenta and Frafraha in the Greater-Accra Region.

The Adenta District Police Commander, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Stephen Kofi Ahiatafu, told the GNA that he received a call on Thursday around 12.30 noon that there was a fatal accident on the Dodowa road. He and his men visited the scene.

On reaching the accident scene, they found four dead bodies on the main road in between Adenta and Frafraha.

The road was entirely blocked as a result of the accident.

Commander Ahiatafu said the police immediately got the two mangled vehicles removed from the scene so as to clear the road for the resumption of vehicular movement.

According to the District Commander, the deceased were yet to be identified, but that they included two females, a little girl aged about three years and a male.

He said their bodies had been deposited at the Ghana Police Hospital Morgue in Accra pending autopsy.

Commander Ahiatafu said he visited Motherlove private hospital in Adenta where four of the injured persons were admitted.

They included the Tipper Truck driver who gave his name as Benjamin Kofi and his driver-mate.

He said the driver recounted that he was driving towards Adenta when he saw a taxi cab that was stationary on the side of the road which suddenly moved and crossed him and to avoid hitting the taxi cab, he veered towards his left hand side and accidentally collided with the minibus, which was loaded with passengers travelling to Kpando in the Volta Region.

The other injured persons on admission at the same hospital included four males and three children, he said, adding that the minibus driver had been rushed to the 37 Military Hospital for treatment.
