Fredericksburg and Princess Town form sister partnership.

Fredericksburg, VA -- On Monday, December 18th, The City of Fredericksburg officially became the first city in the State of Virginia to form a partnership with an African city; Princess Town that actively participated in the slave trade some 400 years ago. Paula Royster, Founder of The Center for African American Genealogical Research Inc.

The Sister City signing ceremony took place with Mayor Tom Tomzak and Ghana's Deputy Minister of Tourism and Diaspora Relations, Mr Joe Baidoo-Ansah signed on behalf of their respective cities.

Her Excellency; Pamela E. Bridgewater; US Ambassador to Ghana received numerous gifts including; The key to the City of Fredericksburg from Mayor; Tom Tomzak. Mayor Tomzak and Ms Royster were each presented with a wooden stool.

Dignitaries present were; H. E. Dr. & Mrs. Kwame Bawuah-Edusei, Hon.

John Baidoo, Deputy Minister of Tourism and Diaspora Relations, members of the Fredericksburg City Council, members of the Ghanaian community and also members of the Fredericksburg community.

Congratulations to Her Excellency; Pamela E. Bridgewater; US Ambassador to Ghana, Paula Royster, Founder of The Center for African American Genealogical Research Inc and the Chief and the people of Princess Town on this historical occasion.
