The Minority Leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah Bonsu, has assured Ghanaians, especially media practitioners that plans are far advanced to ensure the passing of the Freedom of Information Bill. He said the Bill is a significant and critical one and therefore is being treated with great care to ensure that it is flawless when passed.

According to Mr. Kyei-Mensah Bonsu, the Bill has just been passed by Parliament to the appropriate committee for the necessary perusal. He called on other stakeholders including the media to submit their concerns and proposals to be considered by the committee to ensure that a good bill is passed at the end of the day.

The Minority Leader was speaking in an interview with Radio Ghana in Ho. He revealed that Parliament is also considering reviewing the Standing Orders of the Legislature to enable them to oversee the Executive. He said the House is considering allowing the public to participate in some committee sittings apart from that of the Public Accounts Committee.

Mr. Kyei-Mensah Bonsu charged the media to regularly visit the districts and constituencies to keep District and Municipal Chief Executives and MP's on their toes. He commended the media for its outstanding and significant

contribution to the democracy of the country since independence, especially within the last two decades and urged them to keep it up.
