French Ambassador meets the media

Accra, Feb. 10, GNA - Mr Pierre Jacquemot, the new French Ambassador to Ghana on Thursday,had a breakfast meeting with representatives of media institutions in the country as he begins his duty tour of the country.

Mr Jacquemot, who has already presented his letters of credence to President John Agyekum Kufuor, said he was hopeful the meeting would "deepen the good relations" that his predecessor had established. Mr Jean-Michel Berrit, the former Ambassador ended his term of office late last year. Mr Jacquemot, born in France in 1946, is married with three children.

He holds a doctorate degree in Economics from Paris, a Diploma from the Political Institute of Paris and with a professional experience dating back from 1970. He has worked as a consultant with the UNDP and the World Bank in Algeria; Benin; Burundi; Congo; Equatorial Guinea; Egypt; Ethiopia; Gabon Haiti; Cote d'Ivoire; Madagascar; Mali; Mauritius; Morocco; Niger; Togo and Senegal. Mr Jacquemot is a writer and has authored many books including the "Exchange Rate Policy in Africa" published in 1989 in English.
