French envoy tours Abura

THE French Ambassador in Ghana, Mr Jean Michel Berrit who is on a two-day familiarisation tour to the Western Region has visited some projects at Abura in the Ahanta West District.

He visited the Coconut Sector Development Project which is on a five-year project being supported by the French Government at a cost of 3.963 million Euros.

The aim of the project is to rehabilitate areas which have been devasted by the Cape St Paul Wilt Disease and the very old coconut plantations and to improve the social-economic livelihood of rural communities especially the women involved in coconut processing and marketing.

The Ambassador was accompanied by a team from the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, the Agriculture Development Bank and the Centre for Scientific and Industrial Research. He also visited the Ghana Rubber Estates Development.
