The Chancellor of Abbeam University and Chairman of Abbeam Group of Companies, Mr. Abbeam Ampomah Danso, has joined the ranks of successful businessmen who have openly shared their humble beginnings.

Recently, many millionaires have shared their stories of starting from nothing, prompting some skepticism among netizens who believe these accounts may be exaggerated.

However, Mr. Danso has insisted that he exemplifies resilience, having navigated life with limited resources to become a well-known figure.

He disclosed that he began his entrepreneurial journey by selling small items from a kiosk.

"It was a provision shop, a small kiosk," he explained. "I started with one fridge and sold items like fan milk, rice, sugar, and gari. I began with one bag of rice, and eventually moved on to two."

In an interview with Konnected Minds, he discussed the initial success of his business but admitted to a mistake that nearly derailed his efforts.

"I invited my brother to take over the shop, and it collapsed," he said, emphasising the importance of entrepreneurs personally supervising their businesses.

Mr. Danso also recounted the challenges he faced, particularly from the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).

“GRA will drive past every facility and target my place because of the assertion that I am making money. Sometimes they come with force because they insist that I am making money, they see the buildings and it even increases their perception about the business,” he retorted.

He attributed his success to his love for humanity and his commitment to creating jobs.

"Entrepreneurs are those who really love their country. We believe we are called to this role. If we don’t do it, then who will? People’s livelihoods depend on us. There are times when you must pay your workers even if they haven't met their targets because if you don’t pay them what will they eat?."

The founder of the Abbeam Danso Group, who returned to Ghana to acquire 280 acres of land for business, after spending time abroad, made it clear that his empire was not built on a bed of roses.
