Fuel Smuggling Abates In Ketu District

Mon, 3 Feb 2003 Source: GNA

Smuggling of petroleum products, especially petrol from the Ketu District into Togo has abated following the recent increase in fuel prices.

The difference between the two countries is now ?1,350 and this no longer makes the smuggling of the product lucrative.

A survey by the Ghana News Agency showed that the situation has rendered members of the District Security Committee (DISEC) Task Force posted at fuel retailer outlets to monitor sales redundant and have therefore deserted their posts.
