Fuel Tanker Eplodes - One Dead, Three Injured

Space FM, Techiman - A Fuel Tanker has exploded in Techiman in the Brong-Ahafo Region, killing one young boy of about 12 years and seriously injuring three others at Taco, an area near the Techiman Municipal Police Station.

An eye witness told Space FM on the line from Techiman that the Tanker whose registration number could not readily be made available, fell into a gutter around 5:00PM and in the process of pulling it back onto its wheels, it fell back into the gutter forcing the fuel out.

Residents around started scrambling for the fuel and then suddenly the Tanker exploded burning the young boy beyond recognition while the three others were seriously injured. The injured are receiving treatment at the Techiman Hospital.

The eye witness continued that the Techiman Police tried stopping the people from fetching the fuel but one of them poured a bucket full of petrol on one the police officers forcing him to retreat while the other officers continued with the excercise.

The fire was later put out by the Techiman Fire Service but at the time of filling this report around 6:00pm, the the Tanker was on fire again while efforts were being made to contact the Fire Service again.
