Mpraeso (E/R), Jan. 30, GNA- Unidentified Fulani herdsmen allegedly shot and killed, Eric Agbosu, a staff of the Government's Plantation Development Programme (GPDP), with an AK 47 assault raffle at Ohenmaa near Ankoma in the Kwahu South district of the Eastern Region. Another staff who sustained cutlass wounds had been treated and discharged at the Kwahu Government Hospital at Atibie. Mr Kwame Adjei, the Mpraeso Area Plantation Manager of GPDP, told Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the deceased and another staff of the plantation were returning from Ohenmaa to Amarte after a day's work on January 22 when some Fulani herdsmen attacked them and Agbosu was shot in the chest and died instantly.

He said the tragedy had been reported to the police at Mpraeso and no arrest had been made yet but the police were investigating the case. Mr Adjei said the herdsmen had been setting fire to the bush in the area for fresh grass to grown to enable them feed their animals resulting in the destruction of a large number of trees planted by GPDP. He appealed to the authorities concern to control the activities of the herdsmen and the movement of their animals to prevent the destruction of the vegetation.
