A Joint military and Police team has commenced operations in the Asante Akyem North and Sekyere Afram Plains districts of the Ashanti and Eastern region of Ghana, respectively.
The operation is in response to the recent attacks on locals and security personnel in these enclaves by Fulani herdsmen.
At least some three soldiers and a cop who are part of a task force set up to evict the herdsmen from Agogo and the surrounding areas were shot this week in an ambush.
The four were reportedly shot by persons believed to be herdsmen in the enclave.
A Press statement released on the operation and signed by the Deputy Minister of Information, Curtis Perry Okudzeto said there are about 200 Ghana Police and Military officers, including the Air Force involved in the operation.
The new team, according to the statement will augment the efforts of the Operation Cowleg, the first task force deployed to control the activities of the nomadic herdsmen in the hot zones.
