Kwesi Pratt Jnr., has called on President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo and his government to fulfill their promises to Ghanaians and stop trying to score political points.
According to him, the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) under the leadership of President Akufo-Addo made promises to Ghanaians which they have not made any attempts to fulfill and also doing the same things led to the defeat of the Mahama administration.
Commenting on the list of Presidential staffers on Kokrokoo on Peace FM, the Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper exclaimed that the number is outrageous.
He stated arguments that the Akufo-Addo administration has not made any huge expenditure as compared to the previous government though having 998 staffers working under the Office of the President, are flawed.
This is because, he said, the salary paid to the staffers has not been reduced; therefore a person cannot build defence for the government over the issue.
In order to rectify the over-staffing at the Presidency, Mr. Pratt noted that the country should have an "agreement on the optimum number of persons who have to work in the Presidency”.
“Look at the number of Ministers and Deputy Ministers for a sector that used to be one. Look the Transport, there was one Minister of Transport. How many Ministers do we have today, managing the same sector with how many Deputies and so on? So, this is not my creation and this is not God-given”, he added and further advised the government to "fulfill your promise when you promise”.
