Huda Suglo Suleman, a graduate of Legacy Girls’ College, has been named the Overall Best Candidate in the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) in Ghana.

The outstanding student, who pursued the General Programme (Arts Option), achieved a remarkable 8As, earning her the additional distinction of Best Candidate in the General Programme (Arts Option).

As part of the recognition for her exceptional performance, Suleman received a certificate of recognition, and a $1,200 cash prize from the WAEC Endowment Fund during the WAEC Distinction Award organized on March 12, 2026.

Huda is the daughter of Suleiman Alhassan, a shipping commercial manager, and Yasmin Zakaria, a freight forwarding CEO.

She had her basic education at Santa Barbara School before gaining admission to Legacy Girls’ College, where she consistently excelled academically.

During her time at the school, she was placed on the Principal’s Honour Roll from Year 10 to Year 12, served as Prep Prefect, and received several academic distinctions.

Her achievements include an honorary mention in the 2024 Kangaroo Mathematics Olympiad, as well as, being adjudged Best Student in Geography and Economics between Year 10 and Year 12.

She was also named Best Student in Elective Mathematics in Year 10 and Best Student in English Language in Year 11.

Following her remarkable performance in the WASSCE, Huda has gained admission to Ashesi University, where she is currently pursuing a degree in Mechatronics Engineering.

She aspires to become an aerospace engineer in the future.
